Restoration: Refocusing and Rebuilding Your Dreams Again

Introduction

The world has really changed since the pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic ended. Life goes on, and to be proactive is a lesson learned. With the irruption of new AI technologies and additional climate changes, adjusting and adapting is the direction of growth.

The influence of the internet produces in humanity a consciousness that we are all in this together. Even with geopolitical tensions in the Middle East (the conflict between Israel and Hamas) and in Europe (the conflict between Ukraine and Russia), all professional workers and MSMEs still want better work-life conditions. One cannot progress alone, but in a community of work and life - both onsite or in digital workspaces.

There is a need to refocus on what matters in work and life: to rebuild trust, not only in work relationships but in all areas of life in general. This is possible because an "old world of work and life is ending" and a "new world of work and life is beginning". In this new world that is being born, health and work become primary. The pandemic's experience emphasized their importance. Therefore, the practice of energy management and refocusing one's mindset towards productivity and growth is vital. Balancing work-life conditions will enable the restoration and rebuilding of workflows that are life-giving and lead to total human development.

Nasa Diyos ang awa; nasa tao ang gawa

Mayroon tayong mga Pilipino na kasabihan sa Tagalog, "Nasa Diyos ang awa; nasa tao ang gawa." (Translation: "There is a wise saying in Filipino that says, 'God bestows mercy, but man has to work'.")

There is always time for new beginnings and to face each day with hope. "Habang may buhay, may pag-asa." (Translation: While there is life, there is hope.) This may sound like clichés to young Filipino Gen Xers, Millennials, and Gen Zs. But its truth and wisdom cannot be denied. Especially after the experience of the Cebu magnitude 6.9 earthquake and the series of typhoons from Nando, Opong, and Paolo ().

There is time to move forward with the resilience and determination Filipinos are known for, and which AI will still find hard to replace.

2. Set fitness goals and apply walk-run/Fartlek training

3. Have an action mindset through motivators like Brian Tracy , Jim Rohn , or John C. Maxwell . Their motivating reels and videos are found at Youtube and LinkedIn.

4. Acquire AI skills, be resilient, and be rare and valuable, as promoted by Cal Newport, says that being "rare and valuable" is a big advantage. Watch this YouTube video on "Be Rare and Valuable: So Good They Can't Ignore You" by Productivity Game.

5. Search and find a course on AI that can added to your résumé, curriculum vitae, or LinkedIn profile.

6. There is a short certificate course online, such as the CS50 Computer Science of Harvard (free for a limited time period), which includes a basic lesson in AI. Google has free courses on Artificial Intelligence.

7. For those interested in a small business (MSME), the Philippine Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) also gives webinars for Filipino MSMEs to gain skills for business with the use of AI.

8. Learn to prompt well in AI search apps like: Microsoft Copilot (Bing AI), Google Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude.
